    Touhoumon Adventure Log

Post  Dio on Fri Feb 27, 2009 5:27 pm

So, I grabbed myself the pre-bundled version from the main Touhoumon thread, and then booted it up on Virtualboy advance.
jammed myself in game, I'm 'Dio' and my rival 'KingK' (KingK seemed like a respectable rival to have).

Anyway, i'll be psoted on 'who' you can find where!

    Oak's Lab:
Ok, you know the drill, three 'mons, one choice, rival picks next along.

    Left, Reimu
She 'heroine' of touhou so to speak, only missing from 1 game in the series (Game 9.5, Aya's Game).
    I'm guessing she's a fire type, I haven't used her so i'm not sure.
If you take her then your rival takes Marisa.

    Middle, Sakuya
The Scarlet Devil Mansion's 'Perfect Maid', her portfolio contains time stops, knives and general Dio Brando tributes.
Seems to get a custom move quite early since my rival throws knives at me on route 22.
I think she's a Steel type, not sure. Pick her and your rivals going Reimu.

    Right, Marisa
The ordinary witch, and my personal favourite of the three.
She's a thunder type, getting electic shock early on (Note: It doesn't work on Chen).
Take her and your rival will be toting Sakuya.
Evolves to form 2 at level 18

    Route 1:
Pretty bog standard route, true to the original there only seems to be 2 'mons hanging about.

    Chen
The speedy cat from game 7, she seems to be one of the faster 'mons you can get.
She starts with Scratch and Tail-wag, learns quick-attack at about level 7ish.

    Mystica
The singing nightbird, i'm guessing if you level her enough you'll get lullaby and such.

    Route 22:
    Returning 'Mons: Chen, Mystica

    Momiji
One of the first Rarer appearance 'mons, Troublesome to get since she has a move which chases you away and boots you from the fight, I caught her the 2nd time I saw her by just spamming balls right from the get-go.
ps. Tough as nails, get one and train it up!

    Medicine
Your first poison type, and if she's true to her previous forms from the older versions her best skill is infact -getting killed-, You might assume this is bollocks but trust me she comes in handy! This is because when she is killed theres a high chance of the perpetrator being poisoned! Think of it as a noble sacrifice for easier gym fights!
Holy crap, going to have to expand here, just used her in a few fights and it seems it's not only on death now that she poisons the enemy, theres a chance when they simple attack that they'll be poisoned, definently a nice touch!

    Route 2:
    Returning 'Mons: Chen, Mystica, Medacine

    Sunny-Milk
Ok, these guys are a three part trio you'll be seeing here and in the woods allot.
Sunny seems to be fire based, basically a alternate Reimu. She's the red one.

    Luna-Child
Seems to have thunder resistance so i'm guessing she's a thunder type.
    She's the black-white one

    Star Sapphire
Looks like a water type I'ld guess, she's the blue one.
All of these 'mons are rather mediochre from the looks of things, might get good later.

    The Woods
Returning 'Mons: Sunny Milk, Luna Child, Star Sapphire

    Wriggle Nightbug
She seems to be -very- rare in this area, I bumped into her by going to my 'Pikachu finding spot' where rares allways seemed to pop up for me to the elft of the entrance where you find the item. She's pretty weak but from the looks of things she's your ticket to getting flash, aka. You have to get her sometime, and better early.
In her defense I was going by her old stats, seems she gets tackle now, which helps up her attack a bit.

    Gym Time

    Trainer: Brock's Minion
    'Mons: Chen, Letty.
The Chen can easily be punched aside by your main or a decent level Momiji (Which is who I used),
if you want to rub it in with Momiji then you get an attack-up skill at about level 10,
Power up and wipe her out!
Letty is the one to watch for, she should be a either a equal fight for your main 'mon or a decent team takedown target for your squad, I sacrificed Medicine to poison her then had Wriggle and Chen beat her down.

    Trainer: Brock
    'Mons: Suika, Yuugi
Ok, Suika you can take. My Marisa's Electric shock was quite effective, and I got through her at the loss of some HP, the main problem here seems to be Yuugi who seems to be a bit of a beast at level 17.
Electric attacks don't work so i'm guessing she's ground or rock (Whichever one had the resistance).
She'll power up using the same technique Momiji has and beat down each of your team in turn with Rock-Smash, not fun times I assure. It seems like a simple case of toughen up a few levels and beat her down by force.

Ok, So I went out and leveled up Marisa to level 18 and she evolved, I then ripped Brock's team in two with her.
Electric Shock on Suika, Swift on Yuugi. Easy win.

    Notes on Evolution
"Ok Dio, so it's Touhou characters as pokemon, what do you mean they still 'evolve'?"
Well it goes like this, The 'mon you actualyl start out with is the 'Chibi' version of the character, at about level 18 they become their 'Normal' self, then once you get up in the higher ranks they become their 'EX' form.
So; ChibiMarisa - Marisa - ExMarisa
and so forth, ok, class dismissed.

    Route 3
Returning 'Mons: Momiji, Chen, Mystica, Medicine

    Tewi
Floppy eared bunny of the earth, compulsive lier.
Never had Tewi before, added her to my team to see how she fares.

    Anyway, thats it for tonight.
    Next time; Mt Moon.

    Mt Moon

    Rumia
Quite common here, can stop you switching out and running away at higher levels.
Obviously this can give you a pvp edge if your so enclined.

    Koakuma
The scarlet evil mansion's assistant librarian,
    seems ok, has confusion.

    Reisen
The rabbit of the moon, starts out with only a melee and a attack lowering power,
chances are she'll upgrade into a good psychic type with some training.

    Kitsume
The bucket-loli from SA, seems she replaced the Yuka I was hoping to find here, and it seems she's a little defense junkie.
Annoyingly her normal attacks are so weak they can't even do enough damage to counter things like leech-seed...
Seems to get a skill to apply 'Burn' Status to people later, as found on a trainer's kitsume.

    Mt Moon Notes:
Right rock is swirly, No idea who i'll get from this.
Team rocket seem to have 'DC' version of 'Mons, with diffrent sprites.

My playthrough was on a older version, chances are there've been some changes and I imagine Momizi might have been made rarer or switched to another route seeing as how badassly powerful she is for an early 'mon. There is an exceptionally low chance of running into Ran on most of the fields by the way.

Saves time when your mauling hordes of Chens and Mysticas.
