    New green day

Post  Not Jeff on Thu May 14, 2009 1:11 pm

Okay, first off I'll just point out that I did hate American idiot, liked alot of their old stuff but never really got into them to any great extent.

Just gonna say, anyone heard the new album? Can't say I'm gonna start liking them again -_- but peacemaker is actually an enjoyable song.

    Thoughts?

Not heard anything from the new record other than the single which, quite frankly, bores the bollocks off me. Apparently (for UK peoples) they're doing a Live at Abbey Road with them at midnight on Channel 4.

I didn't mind American Idiot, had a few decent tracks on it, but I much prefer their older stuff.

    An Album Preview

Really liking the sound of Peacemaker and there's a few decent tracks on it. Not sure if I'll buy the record though. Might wait til I find it for cheap.

I think it could be a grower. Listened through some more of it again and tracks like Viva la Gloria were sounding nice to my ears.

I reckon if I can find it for 7 or something I'll give it a shot. Not worth a tenner.

I'm normally pretty relaxed about the whole illegal downloading thing because if I spoke out against it too much I'd be accused of hypocrisy but I have to say I get almost depressed by the fact that people these days don't even seem to consider buying records or paying for music anymore. Maybe I'm being old fashioned but I prefer having the physical product and if it's good music or whatever it should be supported.

Yes, I know "it shouldn't be about the money, it should be about the music". Fair point, but completely invalid when a band is trying to make a living off of it. It's like you building someone a house and not getting paid for it. You may be proud of what you've created but if you want to be able to live comfortably there's no way in hell you can do it if there's no money coming in at the end of the day.

I have a small and expanding collection of vinyls at the moment. However due to lack of funds it's not getting any bigger at the moment. The problem with some of my favourite small time musicians at the moment is the fact that they come from America, which means P&P can be twice the cost of the C.d. or vinyl =/ .

I go to gigs if a band I like comes to Scotland and I often buy merch aswell so I see that as a balancing effect for some of the free stuff I get. What I love about vinyls is even after I attain an album for free I find I'm quite willing to then pay for it, sometimes though it's vice-versa if the band don't offer a download option with the vinyl, something most modern artists do so not too bad on that front =P.

But yeah I def prefer having a physical copy of something if I can afford it at the time. I'm still waiting on my Scrambles vinyl from BTMI! coming through, only 300 of them were printed I think it was so yay! I have that album on my computer at the moment but they do offer it as a free download. cheers

That's pretty much the same as me man. I buy tickets to see them if I like them, I buy merch and that still brings in revenue. I see free downloading as more of a tester than a final thing. Unless importing them aint possible (ala Shinedown, Cat Empire and many more)

    Keep music live! =D

We've got to keep an eye out in case cat empire turn up in Edinburgh again, they seem like they would be quite an experience live.

Well they're coming to Glasgow on the 10th July if you'd be interested in seeing them.

Dio seems up for it too last we spoke.
