    [Player Recruitment] D&D Forumventure!

    Post  Dio on Fri Apr 09, 2010 5:24 am

    I'm thinking of making a multiplayer forumventure based mostly off the D&D system;
    It'll include images made in create.swf and i've thought of a basic plot.

    This game won't need a full understanding of D&D rules so don't worry about that bit,
    and I may try and keep the game mechanic bit in the background as much as I can (Some rolls, enemy stats etc)

    The Plot;
    In a city where magic is controlled by the state, The great dollmaker Rozie Roseman has been arrested for unlisenced witchcraft which is punishable as treason against the crown; however he has a secret workshop unknown to the authorities where he was developing his perfect doll;
    You the players are his prototype dolls, are you a bad enough team to rescue your creator before he's executed?

    I'm looking for a group of 4 to 6 people as players,
    Updates will be seen to at the weekends and at times through the week when I have the most time.

    I had a quick whack at rules for playing animated dolls which are nice n' customisable.
    Edit; Yes, I am parodying/referancing Rozen Maiden for this.

    Doll Types;

    Rozen Maiden [City Classes, No Wild Classes]
    Rozen Soldier [Warrior Classes, No Magician Classes]
    Rozen Joker [Stealth Classes, No Divine Classes]

    /////////////////////////////////////

    All races Start TINY
    TINY is the size of a Adult Cat.
    SMALL is the size of a 6 year old Child.
    MEDIUM is the size of a Adult Human.

    Rozen Maiden
    ============

    Starting Craft Points: 150
    +2 Charisma, +2 Dexterity, -2 Strength
    Auto Feats; None

    Rozen Soldier
    =============

    Starting Craft Points: 80
    +2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Charisma
    Auto Feats; Power Attack, Cleave

    Rozen Joker
    ============

    Starting Craft Points: 120
    +2 Intelligence, +2 Dexterity, -2 Wisdom
    Auto Feats; Stealthy

    /////////////////////////////////////
    Racial Upgrades:

    Size up: Small!
    Craft Points [20]
    You are now a SMALL creature.

    Size up: Medium!
    Prequisite: Size up: Small!
    Craft Points [100]
    You are now a MEDIUM creature.

    Wings
    Craft Points [80]
    You have wings which allow you flight!

    Weapon
    Craft Points [20 (Each)]
    You have a weapon of some kind, it will never be considered Improvised when you are using it; Damage is the weapon's normal for it's size catagory. Weapons without a normal attack capacity (E.g. Watering Can) do 1d4 damage. This upgrade can be taken more than once.

    Armor / Shield
    Craft Points [Light 20, Medium 40, Heavy 60]
    As part of your design you have a incorperated suit of armor or a shield, it protects you as the type of armor it is crafted after would normally. You can take this feature multiple times to get both armor and a shield.

    Magic Weapon/Armor
    Prequisite: Weapon or Armor
    Craft Points [20 per enchantment]
    Your weapon or armor is enchanted with either a +1 Benefit or something to the effect of this benefit, you can take craft feature again if you want a +2 benefit. You cannot take anything that would equal or need over a +4 in enchantment via this meathod.

    Barrage [Light]
    Craft Points [40 per 1/day]
    You can summon up a concentration of some light object (E.g. Flower Petals, Feathers, Dust) and fire it forward as a Barrage; This barrage does [Player Level]d4 Damage and can be shot up to [Player Level]x10 feet in a straight line. This attack cannot pass through solid objects such as Walls and disperses if it hits such; The barrage leaves behind a residue of the type of object it is made of.

    Barrage [Heavy]
    Craft Points [70 per 1/day]
    You can summon up a concentration of some dangerous object (E.g. Knives, Crystal Shards, Fire) and fire it forward as a Barrage; Tis barrage does [Player Level]d6 Damage and can be used to blast through solid objects assuming it does enough damage. The barrage leaves behind a residue of the type of object it is made of.

    Elemental Wave
    Craft points [90 per 1/day]
    You can summon a wave of an element or common composite, e.g. Fire, Plant Matter or Crystals, this spreads out in a cone infront of you for 20 feet by 20 feet and does [PC Level x 2]d6. This wave can smash appart people, buildings and other objects. It leaves behind a large mass of the substance created forming a rough ramp pointed at the user.

    Animate [Simple Matter]
    Craft Points [30 per 1/day]
    You can animate a type of material, be it an element (Iron), present force (Fire) or common composite (Water/Stone/Plant Matter). With this ability you can shape or move the matter, additional possiblities depend on the matter you animate. You can only animate one type of material with this feature.

    Animate [Other Dolls]
    Craft Points [50 per 1/day]
    You can bring a simplistic sentience to a normal doll, this last up to your level in hours. The dolls are able to preform simple tasks and have no fear of death, however an animated doll will never attack it's own true owner(s).

    Animate [Sleeper]
    Craft Points [50 per 1/day]
    You can animate the body of a sleeping individual in order to have it preform tasks, this effect is broken automatically if the subject wakes up, using this ability over multiple turns requires you keep focus.

    Private Square
    Craft Points [80]
    You have your own personal Private Square, this is a small pocket dimension you may slip into at will. Time passes normally in this space, additionally you appear where you left reality from when your return to the normal world. You may bring a willing individual into this space, or drag an unwilling individual into it with a successful grapple attempt; the amount of turns you can keep an unwilling individual is equal to [You Level/2]d4. If the individual becomes aware that they've been pulled into your Private Square they may escape in half the normal time unless you impede them personally.
    The design of a private square is simplistic and usually has a set theme; Example it may be a Mansion and it's grounds, a series of infinately repeating stone corridors or a endless sea of junk piles. If you capture someone and they start an attempt to destroy or damage your square then you will need to make a concentration check vs the amount of damage their attack against your square or suffer -1 charisma damage.

    Square Guardians
    Craft Points [40]
    Your private square has 'something' living in it, this 'something' defends your private square from hostile intruders or people who pick a fight with you once you take them to your square. Your square guardian may be any creature under ECL 10, likewise for every level under ECL 10 it is then there is an additional guardian. If a guardian is slain then you get a -1 point of damage to Charisma. healing this Charisma damage restores the guardian.

    Square Dangers
    Craft Points [20 per Danger Type]
    Your private square contains something immediately dangerous, such as pools of lava, a large drop or large body of water or even some kind of trap. These dangers are littered throught your Square, with a successful concentration check versus a target you are taking to your square you can attempt to 'drop' your target onto or into one of these dangers; however attempting to force the individual into a dangerous situation immediately invariably makes them aware of what you've done and therefore can always escape faster if they so wish.

    Dream Walker
    Craft Points [60]
    You can slip into the dreamworld of a slumbering individual, these dreamworlds are often full of things associated with the individual person. All dreamworlds have a tree at their core which can be found with an adiquite survival check or a harder search check. If a person is sleeping restlessly then the dreamworld can become dangerous, if the sleeper awakens then you are booted from their dreamworld. If the dreamer becomes aware of your presence in their dreamworld while asleep then their dreamworld will become dangerous if they have a hostile disposition towards your presence.
    A dream walker may take willing individuals with them when entering a dream world, however these people cannot leave the presence of the dream walker and will allways end up with the dream walker again. If the dream walker leaves the dream world then those they brought with them are forced out.

    Teleport Matrix
    Craft Points [80]
    Your able to teleport via a certain type of reflective object, be it mirrors, pools of water or panes of glass. You can only teleport to places you know, and that you know will have these things. If someone has moved the object (E.g. Mirror) you will not be aware of the change untill you emerge from the object. Likewise if the object does not exist any more or has been destroyed (Evaporated water, Smashed mirror) then you need to make a survival check to find a point near where you wanted to go in order to avoid appearing at a random location.

    Matrix Spy
    Prequisite: Teleport Matrix
    Craft Points [40]
    You've a good knowledge of the teleport matrixes, and you can spy on an area around an exit of the matrix. This reduces the difficulty of search attempts when travelling to a unstable exit point. Spying on someone through this nature actually shows you in the exit point so be careful!

    /////////////////////////////////////
    FLAWS

    Sociopath
    Craft Points [+30]
    You get -2 to charisma.

    Fragile
    Craft Points [+30]
    You get -2 to Constitution

    Self Restriction
    Craft Points [+Variable]
    You have a certain code of operation. Example you may allways wear an eyepatch which is part of your design hampering your sight, you might never use your left hand disallowing dual-weiling or two-handed weapons. This flaw does not give bonuses if you 'never do' something you cannot do anyway. The DM will decide how much a restriction is worth when you tell him what you want.

    Body Deformity
    Craft Points [+Variable]
    One of your parts came out warped, or is entirely missing. You can overcompensate for this depending on the part for example you might still be able to walk despite not having a waist so long as your wearing your clothes however you couldn't run, some parts cannot be overcompensated for such as eyes, hands and feet.

    Pacifist
    Craft Points [+50]
    You can never bring yourself to kill something intentionally, not even a really annoying female mosquito; which doesn't realise your plastic and it can't drink your blood.

    Poll;
    Should I use the normal inventory system,
    or should I use the Catchpalogue system from Homestuck (Mspaintadventures.com)?
    If we use Catchpalogue-ing then there may be some homestruck alchemistry available.

    Normal inventory;

    Item_____|Amount__|Weight__
    Sword......|1...........|500000kg
    Sword......|1...........|500000kg
    Sword......|1...........|500000kg
    Sword......|1...........|500000kg
    Sword......|1...........|500000kg

    Catchpalogue;

    You have 5 Cacthpa Cards, You use Sequential Modus
    You've a Sword Card, A Fish Card, A Fish Card, A Fish Card, A Fish Card,
    You can access your sword, if you pick up another item your sword will be ejected at a high velocity across the screen.

    or

    You have 5 Cachtpa Cards, You use a Tree Modus
    ...........Sword
    ..Knife''''''`..`'''''''Tomahawk
    ..Knife.............Wand
    You can access any of your items, but if you take the sword then it'll drop the rest of your inventory, and if you take the top knife or Tomahawk then it'll drop whats below that. If your inventory gets overly unbalanced it'll collapse.

    http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/Fetch_Modus#Fetch_modi

    Aka. Your inventory is silly and makes no sense, but you can weaponize it if it's got flaws.

    Just a few more ideas;
    I'll expand on them properly if people show intrest in them for their characters.

    Features;
    Limb transformations, Natural Weapons (For non-humanoid dolls), Extradimensional Quiver (Infinate arrows). etc

    Flaws;
    Phobias, Has to eat normal food, Sleeps, ...

    Doll Eater
    You have to eat other dolls to continue your survival (Atleast 1 a day), this includes non-magical dolls.

    Obvious
    You are brightly coloured, or have bells as part of your design.
    -2 Hide or Move Silently.

    etc

    Not getting too much intrest sadly, what I might do it build another 3 characters and let them be 'public' characters unless someone takes to controlling them routinly.

    Right, did a bit of work towards backgrounds, seems they'll mostly be made on the fly.
    Not sure what to do about monsters, I'll probably either end up hand-drawing them or using sprites if it's just a common mook.

    This thread is now for the side discussion of [D&D] Rescue the Creator.

    Syao/jfh009 doesn't really seem to make any responses choice wise so I may have to re-recruit someone to play his character or another character depending on if he doesn't start contributing or if he does. Abitha may also be made a 'Public Character'.
    Not Jeff still hasn't contacted me so I may have to consider another 4th party member.
