    紅魔城伝説Ⅱ [aka. Touhouvania Ⅱ]

Post  Dio on Fri Sep 24, 2010 6:18 am

Taken straight from above video's description:
It's been a year since we last heard of the Scarlet devil mishap. The mistress of the Red Castle has been subdued by the denizens of Gensokyo. (namely the Hakurei clan, Kirisame clan.... and Cirno). However, peace has yet to be restored, as another incident has risen up from its grave.

    Alright enough jabbering,
It appears that the crew of Frontier Aja has been working on a sequel, 紅魔城伝説Ⅱ 妖幻の鎮魂歌 (Koumajou Densetsu II). The latest installment of Koumajou Densetsu features Izayoi Sakuya as the protagonist with Hong Meiling as her companion.

The trial version of this game was sold at the recent Reitasai SP event (例大祭SP). As of now, there is NO downloads available for the trial version(yet). The full game would most likely to be released on.... Winter Comiket, if I'm not mistaken (I probably am, though the credits of the game however, gave a hint).

The previous game featured the EoSD crew, so naturally, the sequel would revolve around the PCB cast (Hence the boss of this stage and the Saigyou Ayakashi tree silhouette on the main title ).

Frontier Aja had certainly improved since their last debut, in terms of graphics, gameplay and music (Let's not talk about the difficulty, this is a trial version for pete's sake). Various attacks have been implemented, allowing you to hack your enemy to any way you please. Kick them, slice them, do what you will to eradicate your enemy. But that's not all, a new time-stop feature (ofc, It wouldn't be Sakuya if such feature wasn't implemented) has been included as well, however it does not freeze the enemy upon casting; rather, they will freeze momentarily after you attack them. (Would definitely be useful on those armored soldiers)

Red souls functions the same as before, it depletes upon the usage of projectiles or calling your companion. Flight mechanic has been reworked as well. It depletes your mana upon activation.

Game art and music is fantastic as usual.

What else can I say? Those who enjoy the previous Koumajou Densetsu game will definitely enjoy the sequel as well.

I'm looking to get my hands on the trial version for folks.

I went back and started playing the first game, during a turn-about session with some friend I managed to get to stage 6's boss (Patchy) with no continues. Feels good man.

    Demo
    Mediafire

Cursed found this over on Uboachan of all places,
must have came out while i've been inactive due to this damn sickness.

This game is stupidly hard, Sakuya's attacks are far worse than Reimu's,
likewise the new hop-back move replaces the exceptionally useful forward slide which was one of the better things at your disposal in the first game.
Glitches with the demo include: Sakuya's time stop not working on most things, and not being able to hit bosses with thrown knives outside of your vision.

    Moves are:
    Z - Forward Stab, doesn't hit overhead like reimu's stick-beatings.
UP+Z - A short range slash-wave, hit multiple times and hits a wider area than the stab but it drains your mana.
Down+Z - Crouched stab, can't be used to form combo's with the normal stab like Reimu could with his hits in 1.

    X - Jump
X (While Jumping) - Float, Slow and Drains Mana rapidly.
Down+X - Back-Hop, doesn't go that far so don't expect it to help you evade much other than chandeliers you knew were going to fall anyway.

    C - Use Selected Tool/Helper
    V - Change Tool/Helper

    = Meiling : Does a ^ shaped flying kick.
= Knives : Hold them down for rapid fire, slow fire when floating.
= Watch : Stops enemies... Sometimes.

I've added these links and more to the Comiket 79 Thread over in the fileshare,
go check out what other goodies are to be had from this year's crop.

I'll keep finding us more stuff so you do me a favour and tell me if it's any good,
and if any of my presumptions are correct I suppose.

That final Boss; Oh fuck it and your Super-Laser Arrays straight to hell.
[Edit: Defeated the bint! Now to 1cc it or something...]

    Confirmed the equipment for folks;
Knife [Start]: Throwing knives, go in a straight line.
Watch [Start]: Stop enemies in their tracks, don't think this works on bosses.
Meiling [Defeat Alice]: Does a flying kick, get the angle right and this'll tear bosses a new one. Also really handy for enemies at diffrent altitudes.
Alice [Defeat Marisa]: Sends out a battalion of suicide dolls who walk ahead untill they hit something. This is probably one the most lethal specials.
Patchouli [Defeat Marisa]: Encircles you with mystic things, works as a barrier of pain against enemies but doesn't do much damage without prolonged exposure. Good vs big demons.
Reimu [Defeat Reimu]: Fires a glowing ying-yang orb which works just like fairy axes, ironically has more range backwards than forwards.
Flandre [Defeat Ran]: Naturally a screen-sized area of attack. Shoots lasers in all directions and does moderate damage.

Personal favourite setup: Meiling, Alice & Patchouli.

Please, someone help me... I've downloaded the game, but it runs veeeeeeeeeeery slow. It's impossible to play it. Sakuya lags so fucking much, that it's even worst than those lags from MMORPGS. And what is more strange is that I didn't have this problem with Touhouvania 1. The game runned perfectly normal.

    AND I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME! ;_;

I got the same problem with Touhou master burner climax. It's extremely slow to the point of being unplayable. Also, I'm even having it with the touhou official games. What's stranger is that in the past it wasn't like that. I guess it's really something with my processor.

Btw, can you give me the link to the latest directX update?

    This should be it.

Oh, and does that help? Not really, your PC doesn't seem to know what video card your using other than it's some kind of AMD card (I use an AMD too so it's not simply the fact your using AMD). Additionally I can't see why it'ld hate windows xp.

I'm sure if you go to the Touhouvania II install directory there should be a config program, try turning some stuff off and seeing if it helps.

You had the same processor in the past ? if yes how much background programs are running ? what antivirus you have ? dou you have the latest videocard drivers ? these can be factors in slowing you're pc down i had it to

Naturally, I have 10 desktop toolbar icons running, if that's what you want to know.

And I don't know if I have the latest videocard drivers. Where can I get it?

Anyway, I got the latest directX, and made a folder to put it's files on it. What now? Should I put them on System32-> DirectX -> Dinput?

DON'T Try this, as much as it'ld amuse me to have you smash your pc with it'self be taking the wrong bits off first. Search your system first.

Also, the processor is probably the last thing you should ever try to take out and put in again, since there's that cooling paste thingie you need to apply.

You tried; however theres a more accurate way.
    The Device Manager! Very Happy

    Go to My Computer, Right click the folder and click properties;
this will bring up computer information and from there you should see the link for device manager.
Atleast thats the quickest way on vista. Otherwise just scour the control pannel.
