    Dungeons

Basically this game was angled to me by my bro as being 'Dungeon Keeper 3'.
Really it's more like a mix between 'Evil Genius' and a Tower-Defense Game.

Rather than managing a dungeon's supply of monsters and such as a omipresent entity and building lots of room combinations, diffrent traps and all sorts of varied things the game takes a slightly diffrent approach.

You are a Dark Lord, the only player controlled character in your dungeon, monsters are placed as 'encounters' which focus around buildable pentagrams. At your building disposal are Treasure Piles, Libraries and Armories. These aren't for your monsters though, they're for the adventurers who constantly wander into your dungeon from hero-gates. Basically you run it like sim-theme-park trying to appease the heroes with gold, fights and seeing to their 'adventure needs' before hunting them down, knocking them out and shoving them in your cells.

This essentially means every level is a weird sort of grind where you lure in punters and murder them for more resources to lure in stronger heroes to murder... and the cycle goes on endlessly. No really, thats basically the whole game.

Dungeon Keeper III it is not. This I must state.
The game gets pretty damn boring, depending if your a catacomb, temple or hell map is the only factor which changes your available options really. Each map type has 4 monsters, and temple and hell have 4 traps you can build. Likewise there are only three kinds of adventurers which comes in easy to hard verieties: Warrior, Mage and Rogue. Which means you'll see nothing new at all as you progress. The only thing which seems like it might be a challenge is the 'Champion' enemies which come into the dungeon simply to try and fuck you up but even they're a pushover.

The moment I saw it on steam I figured it would be bad, thanks for confirming it.

It looked promising somewhat, as a big fan of Dungeon Keeper myself.

But no, from what you're saying, it sounds worse than what I could have imagined.
Just as much of a let down as the "My life as a dark lord" game was.
I expected a crystal chronicles game where you made the dungeons.
    No.
Crystal Chronicles for gamecube was a good game, everything after is balls.

    Edit:
I expected a crystal chronicles game where you made the dungeons.
    No.

Actually, this IS it, but they sucked out all the potential in that idea and made the gameplay poor tower defense.

Tower Defense was fun and gimicky as an idea for Warcraft III custom maps,
Tower Defense is not fun enough to be worthwhile as a full game however...

I've seen a few examples that shows otherwise, if done right it can be pretty cool. I would name the games but I can't remember their names really ^^; PSP game final fantasy crystal defenders(think its called) is pretty fun.

    Plants VS Zombies

But PvsZ had so much extra content than just the main game.
